It makes me think of the child awkwardly wielding
his little scissors around all those angles
trying to create that rare and perfect blue maple leaf
to take home and proudly present to mom and dad.

I love it — and your way with words. I happened upon a pink felt heart one day, submerged in a puddle. Perhaps if I’d had a camera, I could’ve left it near there, drying on a bush.
Since I had no way return it to the child, I accepted the photo as his little gift to me.
I thought so.
